Regulators, changeovers, and materials

Regulators, changeovers, and materials are important to understand because they transfer the gases to your equipment or work station.  It can be confusing to know what equipment to select for delivering carrier gases to a GC vs CO2 to an incubator.   Different gases require different types of regulation and certain instruments require specific delivery pressures and consistency.  In this class you will learn how a regulator works, what the common types of regulators are, how to select the proper materials, and how to use them both safely and properly.  We will discuss the impact of equipment on analysis results, gas conservation, and stability.  The segment on changeovers defines the three most common styles of changeover apparatus: manual, semi-automatic, and full automated.  We will briefly outline the options for liquid/gas configurations as well as when and how to use the equipment.
